RROSE FOOTBALL CLUB

My childhood dream was to become a football/soccer player growing up, but unfortunately I was never good enough. My passion for the sport naturally translated into falling in love with the culture, and soon enough, I became an obsessive football shirt collector. The origin of me starting a brand actually comes from my fandom for Ronaldinho, and I found myself collecting every Ronaldinho jersey from all the different clubs he would sign for. With that, I fell in love with the different colors, how sponsors complete a jersey, and kick started my interest in apparel design. Similar to how a shoe head would collect Jordans, I collected football/soccer jerseys.

It was only a matter of time before I infused my love for the game into my brand. This collection is an ongoing project and you are witnessing its birth. I repurposed vintage jerseys with the design concept hugely inspired by Stussy's iconic 8-ball logo. Every piece you see here is a 1 of 1 piece that now belongs to new owners all around the world. RROSE FC's journey has now only just begun. I'll be releasing 1 of 1 pieces weekly on my website (only announced on IG) - unless if I have a separate release that I am promoting.

"Fly RRose" explained : A play on the "Fly Emirates" sponsor, I was always a fan of airline sponsors on football/soccer jerseys. Airplanes have always been a key element for RRose and it was a perfect match to create my own airline (Fly RRose) and have it be a "sponsor" for our jerseys.

Sometimes as an artist, a creator and hoarder of random ideas, a challenge I often face is feeling like I have to tell a unique story with everything I create. This one has no real story at all. It’s very simple.  I’m a Barcelona fan. I love Stussy and its iconic 8-ball graphic. #8 was donned by the legend Iniesta. Maybe the fact that I have no story, but my process to find a story IS the story. I’ve had this jersey made since October but didn’t know how I can share it with the world, until now.

My creative process is always an evolutionary one. I first have a concept, and slowly add things onto it with each collection or piece, changing it little by little. Keep the overall concept consistent, but add a little spice each time. I wanted to highlight El Don Andrés one more time but this time using a training jersey.

Next idea I needed to bring to life in this process of creative evolution, was to explore other iconic #8s in the football world. While doing so, I also wanted to step away from club kits. Let’s go explore a bit into the world of international jerseys. This thought process brought me to Edgar Davids. An icon of his era. His aura will withstand the test of time.

Creative evolution. Expand your idea and open it up to the public to build on the concept. England, Chelsea, & Man City legend (lol) - #8 Frank Lampard

Next phase of my creative evolution. Many already know about the iconic 8-ball graphic, but let me try to think a little bit outside the box. Crack the ground a little bit to see what else we can do with this concept of using billiard balls. How can I highlight my favorite player and inspirational figure of all time, Ronaldinho, when he’s known for donning the #10 and not #8? This is how. Now I’m not limited and bounded by showcasing players that only wore #8. The borders are now expanded, and as we continue to evolve this simple concept, soon we’ll have infinite ideas that flow into the crack like the streams that formed the Grand Canyon.

Next phase of my creative evolution. Continue to have fun with it. Just seeing different colors of the numbers of the billiard ball mimicking the number of the player makes this whole concept fun. You don’t often see football/soccer jerseys with colorful fun name/number sets. Now without any limitations mentioned in my previous post, I can “freestyle” and just enjoy the ride. Staying curious to learn where this concept will take me.

J COLE = J COLE

Next phase of this concept’s creative process is to repurpose kits that are just blank templates without it being a specific team’s jersey. This opens up more doors for my ideas to freely flow. I can essentially try to create without ANY limitations. This piece was inspired by David Beckham’s 1999 Manchester United’s treble winning home jersey by Umbro. David Beckham, what a legend on and off the pitch.
